The flag of Great Britain, also known as the Union Jack, is the national flag of the United Kingdom. It is a combination of the flags of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland and is often used on official occasions and other occasions where the UK is represented. The flag was introduced in 1606 when the flags of England and Scotland were united to represent the newly formed Kingdom of Great Britain. Over the years, the flag has been changed several times to also represent the flag of Northern Ireland and later the flag of Wales. The flag is often seen as a symbol of the UK and its values such as freedom and democracy.
